I offer therapy via video conferencing. There are many fantastic benefits (and some drawbacks) to video counseling, which we can assess during our initial consultation. With that said, here are a few benefits and risks about participating in online therapy and/or coaching sessions:

BENEFITS:

  • Confidentiality/Privacy- since you do not even have to leave your home or travel to/from any office, your participation is completely private to the outside world. This also guarantees that you won't run into anyone in the waiting room.

  • Convenience- without having to go into a physical office, we can meet regardless of weather conditions outside. Plus it would save you travel time to drive to/from an office or pick your child up from school (for my younger clients).

  • Comfort- For some people they will feel more comfortable in their own familiar setting, which could promote vulnerability and ease of opening up.

RISKS:

  • Possible delay or issues with online connectivity (please make sure that you have a strong enough internet connection to maintain our sessions without major interruptions)

  • Unlike in-person sessions, there is a lack of body language/expression that could represent important cues I that I would not be aware of. In addition, I may not be able to see any physical or medical conditions that may have potential significance (i.e. bruises or injuries)
